DIL: Verb-filled Life Follow-up

About a month ago I issued a challenge to pick from a list a few verbs that would help you improve one specific relationship.  This was to be measured on or around St. Patrick's day.  Though a little belated I thought I would report on what my experience was with the challenge.  I picked the three "L's" namely: Laugh, Look, and Listen.  When I first tried to focus on doing those three things more frequently I was shocked (I mean really shocked) at how little I do those three things around the person with whom I was trying to improve my relationship.  Really?  Do I seriously never look this person in the eye?  How strange?  Really?  That was funny...why am I not laughing?  Listening has always been a bit of a struggle for me so I confess I wasn't too shocked to realize I was poor at listening.

So it began...my quest to #1 remember the challenge and #2 actually work on my three "L's".  Though I confess that my success with having both those two coincide was smaller than I had originally hoped, I did see a marked improvement in my interactions and relationship with the person I chose.  The jokes became funnier, the stories more interesting, and the person all around more confident.  A little effort can often-times go a long way.   I can only imagine how far a lot of effort would go :).

Anybody else give this challenge a try?  Didn't know about it?  Start now and pick a tangible date about a month from now to reflect on how it went!
